NORTHERN LIBERTIES — A man riding a SEPTA bus overnight ended a block early for one commuter after he was attacked, robbed and taken to the hospital.
Philadelphia police say the victim was riding a Route 47 bus west on W. Girard Avenue, heading to the 800 block, when “he was involved in an altercation” with two other men on the bus.
It happened on Tuesday, June 4, at 3:24am.
That altercation ended outside the bus in the 700 block of Girard, where the attackers knocked the victim to the ground, and took his black book bag. Police report the bag was valued at $50 and called the incident a strong armed robbery.
Then, the suspects both ran away in an unknown direction.
The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he was treated for facial lacerations and bruises.
Police ask that if you see the suspects, do not approach them. Instead, call 911 or their tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477) immediately. You can also text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847, or click here to submit a tip electronically. Police say all tips will remain anonymous.
