WEST PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia police have made an arrest in the case of a 78-year-old man who was shot to death in the middle of the day in West Philadelphia.
They say Jay Washington shot Issac Moody in his chest, just after noon on Aug. 8 in the 1000 block of N. 40th Street.
Police took the older man to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead about 15 minutes after he was shot.
Washington, 48 of East Germantown, was arrested last Friday, Aug. 30.
He is charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, three violations of the Uniform Firearms Act — being a former convict, not having a license and being on the streets of Philadelphia — plus, criminal trespass, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.
