NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA — The person who crashed his vehicle into a home over the weekend is apparently a Philadelphia police officer who now faces several charges, including driving under the influence.
The department reports Officer Gregory Campbell, 27, slammed into the home in the 2800 block of Comly Road on Saturday.
According to Philadelphia police,
“This crash severely injured one person, caused injury to a second person, killed one animal inside of the home and injured a second animal. The crash also caused extensive property damage to the home itself.”
The District Attorney’s Office charged Campbell with
- aggravated assault during a DUI,
- aggravated assault,
- criminal mischief,
- aggravated assault by vehicle,
- possession of an instrument of crime,
- simple assault,
- driving under the influence,
- recklessly endangering another person,
- unsafe speed, and
- reckless driving.
Campbell is a two-year veteran of the force. Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
