Man accused of ripping charity box off church wall under arrest

HOLMESBURG — Philadelphia police announced they caught the man seen on surveillance stealing from a church.

The theft happened at St. Dominic’s Church at 8504 Frankford Avenue in Holmesburg.

Police say on Sunday, Aug. 25, it was David Andrauskas, 37 of Northeast Philadelphia, who

“entered St. Dominic’s rectory and ripped the collection box from the wall.”

Then, Andrauskas allegedly placed his jacket over the box and walked out of the church, getting away with the collection box just before 4pm — but he was arrested six days later at his home.

Andrauskas is charged with theft-unlawful taking and criminal mischief.
