SOUTH PHILADELPHIA — A man playing a poker machine at a South Philadelphia bar
“was punched without provocation, and suffered facial injuries and a chipped tooth,”
according to Philadelphia police, who add the victim
“was then assaulted by a number of other individuals.”
He suffered non-life threatening injuries, but another victim suffered severe head injuries and went into a coma.
Police say this all happened at about 11:30pm on Friday, Oct. 11, inside Cookies Tavern. That’s on Alder Street off Oregon Avenue.
One of those others accused of attacking was
“a man wearing a red shirt, who was later identified with the help of anonymous tips”
as Peter J. Ricioppo, 31, whose last known address was just blocks from the bar.
Ricioppo turned himself in, days later, and is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, conspiracy, and recklessly endangering another person.
Police ask that if you could help them identify the other people involved, call 911 or their tip line immediately. You can also email, text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847, or click here to submit a tip electronically. They say all tips will remain anonymous.
