Oregon Ave. bank robbed, reward offered for suspect’s capture

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA — A bank at a busy location was robbed last Friday, Aug. 23, and now the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force is asking for help catching the man seen on surveillance.

It happened at the TD Bank branch at 2653 S. 5th Street in South Philadelphia. That’s across Oregon Avenue from Whitman Plaza and the ShopRite grocery store.

Authorities say, at about 4:20pm, he entered the bank and approached the counter.

Then, he gave

“a threatening demand note to a teller and yelled, ‘Hurry up, hurry up!’”

The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber ran away. He was last seen running west on Oregon Avenue toward 6th Street.

The suspect is described as about 6’3” tall with a medium build.

He was wearing a navy blue Polo zip-up hooded sweatshirt, white undershirt, black pants, dark-colored sneakers and eyeglasses, and was carrying a gray and black Under Armour gym bag and dark-colored umbrella.
