Video: Convenience store robber jumps over counter — barely

FELTONVILLE — Working the overnight shift at a convenience store isn’t the safest job, and one cashier may have gotten the scare of his life at 3:08am on Friday, June 21.

Philadelphia police say that’s when a man walked into the 7-Eleven at 4701 N. Mascher Street in Feltonville. It’s near the intersection of Rising Sun and Wyoming avenues.

First, the man made a purchase.

Then, he demanded money from the employee, who dropped the money on the floor.

After that, you see the robbery suspect jump over the counter — having a bit of trouble because of his size.

He picked up $120 and ran out of the store.

Surveillance video also shows the man arriving and leaving in an older model minivan, with faded paint on the hood and roof.

Police ask that if you see the suspect, do not approach him. Instead, call 911 or their tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477) immediately. You can also text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847, or click here to submit a tip electronically. They say all tips will remain anonymous.
