OLNEY — A driver heading slowly down a residential street at night thought he was being a good Samaritan but ended up getting shot at — ten times!
Philadelphia police say the victim was driving on the 5400 block of Westford Road in Olney when he thought he saw people breaking into a car.
“slowed his vehicle down to take a better look when suddenly one of the suspects walks off of the pavement, into the middle of the street, and begins to fire at the victim.”
The driver was not struck but his vehicle was hit twice.
The gunman ran away and was last seen heading northbound on Westford Road.
Then, investigators recovered ballistic evidence at the scene that showed at least ten shots were fired from a .45 caliber firearm.
Police describe the gunman as being in his late teens to early 20s, with a medium build. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. They also consider him armed and dangerous.
Police ask that if you recognize or see the suspect, do not approach him. Instead, call 911 or their tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477) immediately. You can also text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847, or click here to submit a tip electronically. They say all tips will remain anonymous.
