FAIRMOUNT — Philadelphia police want to catch a man who spent a recent Sunday morning violently trying to kidnap and sexually assault women.
In fact, they distributed surveillance video of at least three attempts.
All of them happened on Sept. 8 in the 90 minutes between 9 and 10:30am, in the 800 block of N. 15th Street. That’s near the corner of Brown Street in Fairmount.
Video first showed the suspect approaching a victim who was walking on the block. The victim was able to run away.
Then, the suspect approached a second victim and grabbed her from behind. As the victim tried to get away, a passerby helped the victim and was able to free her from the suspect’s arms.
The suspect is described as 5’8” tall with a medium build, receding hairline and medium brown complexion.
He was wearing a black jacket with gray horizontal lines over a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black boots.
Police ask that if you recognize or see the suspect, do not approach him. Instead — and also in case you were a victim — call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or 215-685-3252, 911 or their tip line immediately. You can also email, text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847, or click here to submit a tip electronically. They say all tips will remain anonymous.
