Wanted: Man in video seen knocking 87-year-old to the ground in robbery

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA — A vicious crime against an elderly man was caught on camera and now Philadelphia police are asking for help identifying and then catching him.

They say at about 8:15am on Labor Day, Sept. 2, the unknown suspect

“was captured on surveillance video lurking around the 1700 block of S. 4th Street” in South Philadelphia.

Sadly, at the same time, the victim — an 87-year-old man —

“was delivering receipts and payroll to a business on the block.”

That’s “when the suspect struck knocked the victim to the ground and fled with the payroll bag.”

Take a better look at the suspect.

Police ask that if you recognize or see him, do not approach him. Instead, call the South Detective Division at 215-686-3183 or 215-686-3184, 911, or their tip line immediately.
